Shot Stoppers Goalkeeping Academy provides high quality goalkeeper coaching as a NOT for profit academy in the Glasgow & West of Scotland area. The Academy was established not to sell to goalkeepers but to develop talent. Every penny raised is reinvested to provide kit, equipment and first rate facilities for our goalkeepers.
History
Shot Stoppers Goalkeeping Academy was established in 1994 due to a lack of structured training and coaching for goalkeepers at all levels. After 26 seasons we are still highly recognised by many as the goalkeeping academy that produces talented, disciplined and technically well nurtured goalkeepers from grassroots to senior international level.
Philosophy
Are you serious about goalkeeping? Our sole philosophy is to give young goalkeepers, male or female, the opportunity to positively develop and enjoy their learning experience. Coaching Sessions
The Saturday Academy comprises of four groups of goalkeepers who have completed an assessment period with our coaching staff. Groups are assembled through ability, temperament and confidence. We do adhere to the old adage “That if you are good enough, you are old enough”. This enables to maximise potential and encourage technical progression. The weekly format of each group is as follows;
Group 1 – Goalkeeping Fundamentals (technique, handling and footwork)
Group 2 – Advanced Goalkeeping Fundamentals (increased tempo on technique, handling, footwork, tempo and the building of confidence)
Group 3 – Technical Awareness (tempo, reflexes and agility)
Group 4 – Professional Approach (stamina, strength and fitness)
Training venue is at Greenfield Football Centre, 127 Duror St, Glasgow G32 6TP. Training held on grass. Training session 10:00am-11:30am.
